NURS 326 - Pharmacology for Nursing Practice


Units: 2
Basic principles of pharmacotherapeutics and characteristics of major drug groups with an emphasis on treatment indications and nursing implications.  

Prerequisites: B.S. Nursing major.
Co-requisites: All of: NURS 310, NURS 311, NURS 312, NURS 313, NURS 314, NURS 315, NURS 316, NURS 317.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Describe pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of general drug classifications.
  2. State indications of drugs for management of common diseases and conditions.
  3. Discuss the contraindications, side effects and adverse reactions produced by specific drugs.
  4. Apply the nursing process to the use of different pharmacologic agents for the treatment of  various disease states
