Fundamental principles of time-independent quantum mechanics. Translational, vibrational, and rotational motion, atomic structure, valence bond and molecular orbital theory.

Prerequisites: CHEM 351 with grade C- or better.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.

Explain and apply the fundamental postulates of quantum mechanics;
Formulate the mathematical description for the quantum mechanical motion of a particle;
Model the vibrational and rotational motion of molecules;
Formulate and apply theories for the electronic structure of atoms and molecules.
