NURS 320 - Nursing Care of Adults I

Focus on nursing care delivery for adult individuals, their families, and communities who are experiencing acute and chronic illnesses.

Prerequisites: All of: NURS 310, NURS 311, NURS 312, NURS 313, NURS 314, NURS 315, NURS 316, NURS 317.
Co-requisites: All of: NURS 321, NURS 322, NURS 323.
Credit Restrictions: Repeated course may not count toward Major requirements.

Repeatability: May be repeated once for credit for a maximum of 4 units.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Describe and apply theories and concepts derived from the natural and behavioral sciences and the humanities as they apply to nursing care of adults, families and communities who are experiencing acute and chronic illnesses.
Identify strategies nurses use to provide safe care and support the physiologic, psycho-emotional, social, cultural and spiritual needs of patients.
Describe the use of the nursing process with patients in the community and in health care settings.
Select appropriate professional communication skills/techniques in situations with patients, family and healthcare personnel.
Describe strategies nurses use to advocate for and enhance the health of patients.
Identify leadership and management behaviors appropriate in clinical situations.
Describe nursing interventions to restore, maintain, and promote health among patients in the community and in health care settings
