CRJ 455 - Youth Crime and Empowerment Units: 3 Examines the impact of trauma on child development, the factors that influence youth involvement in elicit behaviors, compares youth empowerment strategies with traditional modalities, examines programs, and explores developmental differences among diverse youth.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Hybrid. Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice). Course Typically Offered: Fall ONLY
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Describe the impact of victimization and trauma on youth brain development and behavior;
- Compare theories of youth delinquency and empowerment;
- Describe innovative perspectives, practices, and evidenced-based youth programs in the United States and around the world;
- Explain how innovative practices have been implemented in school, community, and justice settings;
- Describe the factors that impact diverse youth populations;
- Distinguish how youth empowerment practices differ from traditional juvenile justice practices.
