CRJ 420 - White Collar Crime

Explores criminal activity in business and corporate enterprise, organization, and the professions. Students will learn criminological theories regarding the causes and control of white collar crime.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Define and explain the various forms of white collar crime, including consumer crime, environmental crime, securities fraud, health care fraud, and computer crime;
Identify and analyze the social, institutional and ideological factors relevant to corporate wrongdoing and white collar crime and the criminal justice system’s response to such crime;
Identify the legal regimes that are used to combat white collar crime, and analyze the efficacy of such regimes;
Review and analyze real world examples of white collar crime and criminal prosecutions of white collar criminals.
