HDEV 380 - Lifespan Human Development


Units: 3 ; Breadth Area: GE-UD-D
Interdisciplinary methodologies (integrating sociocultural and biological perspectives) are examined and applied to understanding the human lifespan in interpersonal contexts.

Strongly Recommended Preparation: Upper division status (greater than 60 earned semester units) and completion of lower division Area D1-3 requirements.
Prerequisites: Completion of GE Areas A1, A2, A3 and B4 with grade C- (CR) or better; and junior, senior, or post-baccalaureate standing.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Entirely Online, or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

  1. Demonstrate core knowledge in biological, psychological, and socio-cultural aspects of human development (SLO1; ILO2,6).
  2. Demonstrate critical thinking ability by summarizing, comparing, synthesizing, and critiquing interdisciplinary human development perspectives (SLO2; ILO1).
  3. Demonstrate the ability to access information, design, and conduct individual and/or group research projects, and present them clearly, logically, and persuasively (SLO3; ILO1,2,4,6).
  4. Demonstrate the ability to identify and address problems by applying human development knowledge in diverse contexts (SLO4; ILO1,3,4,5).

  1. analyze how power and social identity affect social outcomes for different cultural and economic groups using methods of social science inquiry and vocabulary appropriate to those methods;
