PSYC 420 - Drugs, Brain, and Behavior

The study of how legal and illegal drugs affect our brain and behavior. This class provides an overview of how drugs alter our brains, bodies, and perception of the world to guide our behavior and decision-making.

Prerequisites: PSYC 320.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-line.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Apply information learned about the physiological effects of drugs to predict drug-induced behavior
Describe the mathematical basis for drug doses and behavioral responses
Describe fundamental pharmacological/biological principles that elicit drug action
Find and evaluate psychopharmacology-related primary research articles
Formulate effective written arguments and facilitation thoughtful discussion
Recognize the contributions of various generations of psychopharmacologists
Provide a comprehensive analysis of drug effects on brain, body, and behavior
