POSC 339 - LGBTQ Politics Units: 3 Politics and policy issues relating to LGBTQ communities and movements both internationally and within the United States. Topics may include LGBTQ political movements, mass tolerance, minority stress, LGBTQ cultures and politics, and judicial decisions involving LGBTQ rights.
Strongly Recommended Preparation: POSC 101. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Entirely Online, or Hybrid. Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice). Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - To gain and demonstrate knowledge of LGBTQ politics. This includes the basic outlines of LGBTQ political history and theory within the United States and globally, the politics and political concerns of diverse LGBTQ communities, and the interaction of individuals from these communities with political systems. (This overlaps with Political Science PLO 2 and 3,).
- To complete a class project that clearly communicates to an audience some core concept learned in the class involving LGBTQ issues from the student’s perspective. This could involve writing an essay or completing a research project, taking part in a class production of a play, creating a youtube video or website, creating an original song or work of art, or other similar endeavor. (This overlaps with Political Science PLOs 1, 3, or 5).
