GS 331 - Community Engagement and Leadership Seminar for GANAS I

Units: 1 ; Breadth Area: GE-E; Social Justice
Designed to support transfer students in the GANAS Program as they continue their academic journey at CSUEB. Focuses on leadership development, connecting learning to community engagement, and understanding the importance of Latinx educational equity. Note: The Social Justice Overlay requirement is satisfied upon completion of the two-course sequence, GS 331 and GS 332.

Prerequisites: Completion of GE areas A1, A2 and A3.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: ABC/NC grading only.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Describe the university resources that can help them achieve their academic, personal, and professional goals.
Develop effective strategies for academic success as part of a diverse community of transfer students.
Identify their professional goals and develop a plan to reach them.
Build relationships through service learning or other forms of community engagement
Develop their own definition of social justice and engage in critical self reflection about their role in being an leader in advocating social justice causes that are important to them.
