MLL 246 - Intermediate Spanish for Healthcare Professionals

This course, for students with prior Spanish speaking ability, will develop student communicative competence in Spanish language areas relevant to healthcare and related fields. Placement test required.

Prerequisites: MLL 142.
Credit Restrictions: Not for Spanish major credit.
Equivalent Quarter Course: MLL 2408 and MLL 2409.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Entirely Online, or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Developed communicative competence in Spanish as pertinent to healthcare and related fields;
Developed oral and written linguistic abilities in Spanish on a variety of topics such as meeting the patient, emergency room, mental health, pediatrics, adult issues for men and women;
Developed cultural competence (i.e., increased awareness and understanding of the culture where Spanish is spoken) through comparisons of the culture studied and their own. They are able to perform internet searches in the language and explore the perspectives, products, and practices of the culture related to healthcare.
