MLL 152 - Elementary Japanese II: Language and Arts


Units: 4 ; Breadth Area: GE-C1
Further develop student’s ability to speak, read and write Japanese. Deepen the knowledge of Japanese art culture, respond to aesthetic experiences in arts and demonstrate an understanding of the relationship among the self, the creative arts, and Japanese culture.

Prerequisites: MLL 151.
Equivalent Quarter Course: MLL 1802 and MLL 1803.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Entirely Online, or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).
Breadth Area(s) Satisfied: GE-C1 - Lower Division Arts
Course Typically Offered: Spring ONLY


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate knowledge of sentence structure and grammar rules beyond MLL 151.
  2. Develop conversational competence in realistic situations.
  3. Demonstrate an appreciation of the arts and Japanese culture using their intellect,   imagination, sensibility, and sensitivity.
  4. Develop their affective and cognitive faculties through studying great works reflecting the rich diversity of human imagination and/or inquiry
  5. Students completing the course will be able to analyze a brief article composed of complex sentence structures and Chinese characters.
