KIN 307 - Motor Skill Acquisition and Training


Units: 3
Concepts and principles of motor skill acquisition and training for skilled physical performance. Overview of motor control theories and sensorimotor integration. Emphasis on principles and methods in teaching motor skills to different populations and skill levels.          

Prerequisites: B.S. Kinesiology major, KIN 300, KIN 301.
Equivalent Quarter Course: KIN 3330.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Entirely Online, or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Describe and understand basic concepts of motor learning.
  2. Compare and contrast motor performance and motor learning.
  3. Describe and compare theories of motor control.
  4. Understand and evaluate evidence-based methods of teaching and developing motor skills.
  5. Compare and explain adaptations of teaching methods to various populations and skill levels
