HOS 310 - Design & Management of Special Events in Hospitality and Tourism Units: 3 Planning, designing, servicing, and managing special events. A significant portion of the course will be dedicated to planning and designing two special events. Completion of Cvent certification.
Prerequisites: HOS 100, HOS 210, REC 100. Equivalent Quarter Course: REC 4501 and HOS 4502. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Entirely Online, or Hybrid. Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice). Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring

- Utilize the five phases of the modern event planning process.
- Conduct comprehensive research for an event. Identify different management styles.
- Comprehend basic event planning financial and accounting terminology.
- Develop and implement the design of an event.
- Conduct event marketing research.
- Recognize standards and customary event regulations and procedures.
- Identify the appropriate virtual event platforms for special events.
- Incorporate principles of sustainable development into special events.
