PHIL 300 - Reasoning and Writing for Philosophy Majors


Units: 3
This seminar will focus on specific area(s) of philosophy, the thoughts of specific philosopher(s), or a specific topic as it is discussed by various schools of philosophy (subject will vary).

Prerequisites: Declared B.A. Philosophy major or minor.
Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 9 units when content varies.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).
Course Typically Offered: Variable Intermittently


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Examine the general nature and purpose of arguments.
  2. Acquire basic skills concerning how to construct a philosophical essay.
  3. Develop oral argumentation skills
  4. Develop a deeper understanding of specific areas of philosophy, thoughts of specific philosophers, or specific topics as discussed within philosophy
