SLHS 612 - Counseling in Speech-Language Pathology

Counseling issues related to speech-language pathology. Students will learn to explore the interpersonal/psychosocial dimensions of working with persons with communicative disabilities and to implement strategies that facilitate their clients’ wellness through the lifespan. 

Prerequisites: Admission to M.S. Speech-Language Pathology program.
Equivalent Quarter Course: SPPA 6080.
Possible Instructional Methods: Hybrid Only.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Communicate and collaborate effectively with clients, families, and other professionals.
  2. Consistently apply ethical professional standards.
  3. Work effectively with other professionals, demonstrate cultural competence and commitment to advocacy for persons with communicative disorders.
