GEOL 646 - Quaternary Geology

Evolution of climate and landforms of the Quaternary. Emphasis on interpretation of sedimentary deposits and erosional landforms. Techniques for determination of age relationships.

Equivalent Quarter Course: GEOL 6300.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Explain what makes the Quaternary different from previous time periods.
  2. Understand the nature of Quaternary climate change, from the ice age cycles to rapid climate changes.
  3. Understand the techniques that are utilized to investigate Quaternary environmental alterations.
  4. Read and critically evaluate peer-reviewed published work.
  5. Analyze and interpret a wide range of geologic and climate data as presented in scientific papers.
