MM 632 - Interaction Design


Units: 3
Theories and practices of Interaction Design within a broader context of the fields of User Experience Design and of Human Computer Interaction. Students design and develop interactions and experiences with paper models and examine case studies.

Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

  1. Describe and explain prominent theories of interactivity.
  2. Describe and explain the emphases and methodologies of related disciplines in psychology, computer science, communications, art, etc.
  3. Envision and prototype complex interactive experiences with sketches, storyboards, and paper placeholders.
  4. Systematically test explicit and implicit assumptions with users.
  5. Identify community problems (local or remote) that can be addressed with.
  6. Analyze and write case studies of interactive design projects.
