STAT 351 - Sampling Procedures for Surveys


Units: 3
Detailed investigation of sampling methods. Development of surveys.  Design and comparisons of stratified, systematic, and cluster sampling procedures. Use of survey, statistical, and cloud-based software.  Emphasis on applications to social sciences.

Prerequisites: STAT 100.
Equivalent Quarter Course: STAT 3510.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).
Course Typically Offered: Variable Intermittently


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Develop survey questions which result in data that can lead to exploring how power and social identity affect social outcomes for different cultural and economic groups.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of how survey statistics can test the concepts of social sciences.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to effectively plan a survey and analyze the resulting data.
