Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Demonstrate familiarity with themes and structures of culturally and ethnically works in children’s and young adult literature from after 1900;
identify and describe the characteristics of different genres, literary forms and themes within diverse children’s and young adult literature;
locate and summarize secondary texts related to diverse ethnic works of children’s literature after 1900;
articulate in cogent writing meaningful connections between specific literary texts written for ethnically diverse children and young adults, their themes, their historical contexts, and contemporary readers;
engage in collaborative assignments, such as discussion, oral presentation, and peer editing.
