ENGL 430 - Bible as Literature


Units: 4
Examination of major events, characters, themes and literary forms of the Bible.

Equivalent Quarter Course: ENGL 4710.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1.  Students will demonstrate knowledge of major events, characters, and themes of the Bible.
  2.  Students will demonstrate knowledge of underlying literary forms and genres found in the Bible.
  3.  Students will learn to apply modern critical theories and methods to the elucidation of literary elements in the Bible.
  4.  Students will demonstrate their ability to write critically on topics of importance to the Bible, viewed as literature.
