ENGL 418 - British Novel After 1900 Units: 4 Selected British novels from the innovations of modernism in 1900, to the present.
Strongly Recommended Preparation: ENGL 204. Equivalent Quarter Course: ENGL 4833. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Entirely Online, or Hybrid. Grading: A-F grading only. Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Explain the themes and narrative innovations of British fiction from the modernist period in literature to the present;
- Discuss, analyze, and respond to 20th and 21st century literary novels;
- Use different critical approaches to interpret themes, imagery, characters, settings, and narrative strategies in British novels;
- Design innovative presentations about literature, its authors, contexts, and relevance to our world;
- demonstrate improved ability to write informally and formally about complex novels.
