ENGL 335 - Global Literature after 1900


Units: 4
Major works of global literature in English from 1900 to the present that reflect literary movements such as modernism and postmodernism, or genres such as colonial and post-colonial literature.

Strongly Recommended Preparation: ENGL 204.
Equivalent Quarter Course: ENGL 3760.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Entirely Online, or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. explain the themes, narrative innovations, and different genres of global literature since 1900;
  2. use critical theory to discuss, analyze, and respond to 20th and 21st century global literature;
  3. design innovative presentations about literature, its authors, contexts, and relevance to our world;
  4. develop and write clear, cogent essays about literature, demonstrating understanding of literary terminology, analytical and persuasive skills, and awareness of the writing process.
