COMM 323 - Communication of Difference


Units: 4
Students will examine issues of difference in communication and media. Emphasis will vary each semester, with topics that may include but are not limited to sex/gender, race/ethnicity, age, religion, income inequality.

Equivalent Quarter Course: COMM 4300.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Spring ONLY


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Students will be able to identify major issues of difference appearing in communication media;
  2. Students will demonstrate understanding of media effects on cultural conceptions of difference;
  3. Students will critically examine portrayals of difference in selected media.
