MGMT 402 - Managing the Global Workplace Units: 3 Challenges faced by HR managers in managing a global workforce, and solutions in the context of management theory and practice. The course focuses on international human resource & cross cultural management.
Prerequisites: MGMT 312 and junior, senior or post-baccalaureate standing. Equivalent Quarter Course: MGMT 4675. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Entirely Online. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Variable Intermittently
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Demonstrate an understanding of the HR issues facing global HR managers today in HR planning, recruitment, selection, compensation, performance management, training and expatriate assignments.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the cultural basis of employee behavior in the global workplace.
- Apply an understanding of cross cultural management concepts to create effective international teams and negotiate effectively across cultures.
- Apply an understanding of cross cultural management concepts in designing HR systems for different global regions.
- Conduct quality research on HR systems to design appropriate HR systems for different countries and cultures and present it to an informed audience
