COMM 493 - Capstone: Social Justice Project Units: 2 The student experience culminates in a long-form multimedia project. Students produce and publish multimedia work with an underlying theme relating to social change or highlighting social problems and solutions.
Prerequisites: All of: COMM 328, COMM 335, COMM 428. Equivalent Quarter Course: COMM 3221. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Hybrid. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Investigate a social issue through multiple journalism methods including interviewing, data research, and policy research;
- Create, edit and publish a feature news package on an issue relating to social change and/or highlighting a social problem and solutions;
- Demonstrate competence in producing and publishing issue journalism using multiple media tools/platforms;
- Demonstrate diverse communication perspectives toward communities and peoples.
