COMM 495 - Journalism Practicum


Units: 2
Students spend at least one semester producing journalism for Pioneer Media, operating under the direction of a faculty advisor and editor-in-chief.

Prerequisites: COMM 328 and COMM 335.
Equivalent Quarter Course: COMM 3220.
Repeatability: May be repeated once for credit, for a maximum of 4 units.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Create, pitch, and publish journalism on a regular basis in Pioneer Media  online and print publications. Create publishable journalism using visual and other multimedia elements. Formulate and conduct skilled interviews as a major element of news research. Evaluate and critique story pitches and completed multimedia stories.
