MGMT 612 - Strategic Compensation and Reward Systems


Units: 3
Design of compensation and benefits systems to attract, retain, and motivate top talent in dynamic organizational environments shaped by market, political, legal, and union constraints. Worker behavior responses to the structure of compensation systems are emphasized.

Prerequisites: Post-baccalaureate standing.
Equivalent Quarter Course: MGMT 6615.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Design a compensation and benefits system to motivate workers.
  2. Design a compensation and benefits system to attract the desired worker types.
  3. Design a compensation and benefits system to retain top talent.
  4. Apply theory to avoid unintended negative consequences of changes to a compensation and benefits system.
  5. Analyze how benefits systems affect the attraction and retention of desired worker types.
  6. Analyze how the optimal compensation policy differs across workers, firms, sectors, and institutional and market environments.
