COMM 333 - Photojournalism


Units: 2
Essentials of documentary-style journalistic photography, including news, sports and entertainment genres. Students create individual portfolios and serve as photographers for Pioneer Media.

Equivalent Quarter Course: COMM 3225.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Shoot and edit publishable pictures for The Pioneer print and online;
  2. Explain and interpret fundamental media ethics and laws pertaining to visual journalism, and as articulated by the National Press Photographers Association;
  3. Cover events and people with journalistic accuracy and concern for the power of visual representation.
