CMPE 492 - Senior Design I


Units: 3
Generation of engineering career documents, such as resume cover letter, project proposal, Gantt chart, bill of materials, and patent application. Initial contact with client, and project planning. Introduction to project design methodology.  

Prerequisites: CMPE 330, CMPE 344. 
Equivalent Quarter Course: CMPE 4610.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Fall ONLY


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Develop practical writing and presentation skills for the engineering profession;
  2. Develop an understanding of traditional and modern project management;
  3. Develop knowledge about the U.S. Patent system;
  4. Develop clear understanding of social responsibilities and ethical behaviors of an engineer, especially with regard to sustainability, cultural differences, and diversity;
  5. Develop understanding the roles of professional organizations in standardization, publication, conferences, and local structures;
  6. Develop team work skills for initial project planning and implementation;
  7. Develop ability to research project materials that satisfy goals and constraints of project.
