REC 680 - Trends and Issues in Hospitality, Recreation, and Tourism


Units: 3
Investigate current trends and issues impacting management of hospitality, recreation, recreation therapy or tourism organizations. Define a problem, write a comprehensive literature review, and develop the scope of work or methodology in preparation for the applied research project.

Prerequisites: REC 630.
Equivalent Quarter Course: REC 6500.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Entirely Online, or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Investigate current trends and issues affecting management of hospitality, recreation, recreation therapy or tourism (HRT) organizations.
  2. Select one HRT management problem for further study and analysis.
  3. Develop a comprehensive review and analysis of current, credible research directly related to the selected HRT industry.
  4. Develop the scope of work or methodology for the applied research project.
  5. Obtain Institutional Review Board approval and develop data collection documents if conducting research involving human subjects.
