OTL 606 - Research in Online Teaching and Learning


Units: 3
Research methods in education, both quantitative and qualitative, with attention to sources, collection, and uses of data. Critical analysis of research on online teaching and learning. Preparation of a research project, including references, rationale and outline. 

Prerequisites: Post-baccalaureate standing and all of: OTL 601, OTL 602, OTL 603, OTL 604. 
Equivalent Quarter Course: OTL 6706.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely Online.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Analyze current research literature and determine the research methodology and the validity of the results for use in course discussions and assignments with proper APA citations.
  2. Summarize, synthesize, and cite current research according to APA guidelines in course discussions and papers.
  3. Describe a problem or need which can be fulfilled through development of an online course.
  4. Describe the course development to date and plans for the future development.
  5. Complete the requirements for the graduate writing requirement by earning a B or better in the course.
