FIN 605 - Corporate Financial Management


Units: 3
Theory and practice of corporate financial management. Topics include corporate governance, corporate performance analysis, capital investment decisions, firm valuation, cost of capital, short-term financing, long-term financing, capital structures, and dividend policies. Formerly BUS 605.

Prerequisites: ACCT 604.
Equivalent Quarter Course: FIN 6215.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Explain the fundamental concepts and theories in corporate finance.
  2. Analyze corporate performance with financial analysis.
  3. Compute firm value using different valuation methods.
  4. Explain the concepts of risk and return trade-off in different assets and construct investment strategies in the financial markets.
  5. Compute the appropriate discount rate for assets and cost of capital for a firm.
  6. Compute capital budgeting for capital investment decisions.
  7. Analyze how corporate financial decisions (such as short-term and long-term financing policies, capital structure, dividend policies, corporate control and governance, etc.) influence firm value.
  8. Integrate analysis and valuation with applications of different corporate financial management problems.
