HSC 100 - First Year Seminar in Health Sciences Units: 3 Introduction to health care and delivery from an interdisciplinary perspective focusing on critical thinking, effective communication, research and writing, and team building skills. Emphasis is on introducing students to self-directed learning skills that are critical for a health professional.
Equivalent Quarter Course: HSC 2200 and HSC 1000. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Hybrid. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Explain health care issues using available informational resources and strategies.
- Recognize critical thinking and decision-making skills based on empirical evidence.
- Effectively use library and other databases to understand issues in health care.
- Work in diverse teams using self-directed learning skills, group and interpersonal skills to complete a project.
- Recognize what constitutes effective oral and in written communication in the discipline.
- Understand ethical, responsible and professional behavior both in the classroom and in local communities.
