POSC 332 - Yes We Can! Social Movements in the 21st Century


Units: 3
Study of collective action in American Politics. Examination of influencing policy makers through unconventional means such as protests and social movements.  Discussion of the role of grassroots organizing and how to translate advocacy to action. 

Equivalent Quarter Course: POSC 3370.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Students will gain an understanding of when political participation can and cannot translate into policy change including the role that pressure groups, citizen groups, political parties, compromise, electoral pressure, and tactics of persuasion have in the policy process.
