KIN 420 - Exercise Prescription Units: 3 Assess and interpret exercise and fitness testing, including pre-exercise participation screening and assessments of cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength and endurance, body composition, and flexibility. Assists with preparing for the ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist Certification.
Prerequisites: KIN 306 with grade C or better. Equivalent Quarter Course: KIN 4610. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Discuss the importance of physical activity to the health and well-being of both healthy and selected, diseased populations,
- Use pre-exercise assessments and screening to guide exercise prescription and programming and, where appropriate, further exercise testing.
- Conduct assessments of cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength and endurance, body composition, and flexibility in a professional manner,
- Interpret exercise test and fitness assessment results to develop a physical fitness prescription that is safe and effective and based on scientifically-validated training methods
