BIOL 415 - PCR, Sequencing and Fragment Analysis

Laboratory course covering the theory and applications of PCR, DNA sequencing and Fragment Analysis. Topics include DNA sequencing and sequence analysis, genomic PCR, quantitative PCR, RT-PCR, DNA fingerprinting. Individual project. Lecture Units: 1; Lab Units: 2

Prerequisites: BIOL 310.
Equivalent Quarter Course: BIOL 4485.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate safe laboratory procedures and molecular techniques;
  2. Design and conduct experiments using molecular techniques;
  3. Analyze and troubleshoot experimental data;
  4. Interpret data and display the obtained information in appropriate formats, such as graphs, labeled images, or tables.
