HSC 499C - Capstone in Health Policy

Capstone course where students apply knowledge and skills gained in their courses by exploring select health policy issues, research and analyze existing policies to make a recommendation. Students prepare a summative professional portfolio. Lecture Units: 2; Activity Units: 1.

Prerequisites: B.S. HSC: Concentration in Health Policy major and HSC 400.
Equivalent Quarter Course: HSC 4500 and HSC 4700.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Apply knowledge and skills gained from their courses by analyzing a current health policy issue to demonstrate competency in health policy.
Develop self-directed learning skills, interpersonal skills and group skills critical for a health professional in an interdisciplinary setting.
Design a presentation discussing health policy issues affecting diverse populations and propose solutions that are culturally appropriate and sensitive.
Articulate their personal beliefs and goals and evaluate professional preparedness by completing a senior portfolio.
