HSC 385 - Vector Control

The biology of vectors that transmit diseases to humans including invertebrates, vertebrates and microbes. Current methods for their control and management will be a key feature in the course.

Strongly Recommended Preparation: BIOL 230 with a C or better.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Entirely Online, or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F grading only.

Discuss various categories of disease vectors important to humans.
Discuss the basic biology of disease vectors.
Discuss the history of vector-borne diseases globally and in California.
Discuss the role of ecological and climate change on vector prevalence and distribution.
Discuss the social, economic, and health impacts of vector-borne diseases.
Produce a vector control policy for a given disease.
