PSYC 491B - Research in Physiological Psychology


Units: 4
An advanced research course in which students design and execute an empirical research study related to physiological psychology. Includes data collection, quantitative data analysis, and presentation in an APA style research report.

Prerequisites: PSYC 300 and PSYC 320.
Equivalent Quarter Course: PSYC 4803.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Spring ONLY


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Compare and contrast theories in the area of physiological psychology.
  2. Formulate a research hypothesis in the area of physiological psychology.
  3. Design a methodologically sound study to test a hypothesis.
  4. Use scholarly resources to locate relevant scientific literature.
  5. Critically evaluate journal articles.
  6. Apply principles of research ethics to a study.
  7. Collect and manage data
  8. Analyze data using appropriate statistical techniques and interpret the results.
  9. Present research findings in American Psychological Association format.
