HSC 355 - Bioethics Units: 3 Ethical issues that arise in the health sciences including, but not limited to, clinical ethics, ethical issues in new technologies, public health ethics, and distributive justice. The course will focus on sound reasoning through discursive writing.
Prerequisites: HSC 100 and HSC 130. Equivalent Quarter Course: HSC 3550. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Entirely Online, or Hybrid. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Independently apply ethical perspectives and concepts to questions in bioethics.
- Recognize basic ethical issues in the health sciences.
- Discuss different ethical perspectives on current issues in health sciences and their implications.
- Write clear and grammatically correct case-analyses of bioethical issues.
- Complete literature searches and write clear and relevant literature searches on topics in bioethics.
