KIN 406 - Introduction to Adapted Physical Activity Units: 3 Introduces Adapted Physical Education and activities for professional preparation in kinesiology and education.
Prerequisites: B.S. Kinesiology major and KIN 302. Equivalent Quarter Course: KIN 4008. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Spring ONLY
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Understand the history, legal mandates, and current status of physical activity for persons with disabilities.
- Know current concepts and trends in adapted physical education.
- Demonstrate the ability to assess and modify physical education activities to meet the needs of students requiring programming.
- Receive hands-on experiences working directly with individuals with disabilities out in the community.
- To articulate the importance of a commitment to life-long physical activity.
