KIN 406 - Introduction to Adapted Physical Activity


Units: 3
Introduces Adapted Physical Education and activities for professional preparation in kinesiology and education.

Prerequisites: B.S. Kinesiology major and KIN 302.
Equivalent Quarter Course: KIN 4008.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Spring ONLY


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Understand the history, legal mandates, and current status of physical activity for persons with disabilities.
  2. Know current concepts and trends in adapted physical education.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to assess and modify physical education activities to meet the needs of students requiring programming.
  4. Receive hands-on experiences working directly with individuals with disabilities out in the community.
  5. To articulate the importance of a commitment to life-long physical activity.
