KIN 423 - Exercise and Stress Units: 3 The physiology of the stress response, its role in disease, and the immediate and long-term relationship between exercise and stress.
Prerequisites: KIN 306 with grade C or better. Equivalent Quarter Course: KIN 4615. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Develop an understanding and appreciation of the nature of stress and its relationship to exercise.
- Understand the role and function of the neuro-endocrine response pathways and its effects on psycho-physiological systems.
- Understand the correlation and interaction of the stress response and major diseases.
- Develop an understanding of the effects of the stress response to exercise performance.
- Develop an appreciation and understanding of the role of systematic relaxation to psycho-physiological systems.
- Develop skills in presenting current understanding in both verbal and written forms
