KIN 424 - Exercise and Gerontology Units: 3 Assess and define health issues common with age, understand the pathogenesis of diseases associated with age, and evaluate the benefits of physical activity and exercise to healthy aging.
Prerequisites: KIN 306 with a grade of C or better. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Spring ONLY
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Discuss the physical, physiological and demographic characteristics of the older population.
- Discuss the importance of physical activity to health and well-being with age
- Develop guidelines for exercise that accommodate the diversity of the older population,
- Discuss and implement types of exercise programming for older adults,
- Become familiar with professional opportunities in the field of gerontology/geriatrics
