KIN 448 - Mental Skills for Learning and Performance Units: 3 Optimizing physical and cognitive learning and performance in a variety of contexts using mental skills, such as goal setting, imagery, observational learning, and self-talk.
Prerequisites: B.S. Kinesiology major, KIN 300 and KIN 308. Equivalent Quarter Course: KIN 3205. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground. Grading: A-F grading only. Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Personally define success and failure and understand the attributes required of them for optimal learning and performance.
- Understand concepts related to effective goal setting and implement effective goal setting programs.
- Describe the influence of cognitive-behavioral modification techniques in relation to motivation, anxiety, focus, and confidence.
- Define and distinguish the concepts of imagery, self-talk, and observational learning, and implement mental skills interventions used to help individuals increase persistence in and quality of learning and performance
