ENGL 612 - Restoration and 18th-Century British Literature


Units: 4
Study of major works, authors, and literary topics of the Restoration and the 18th century.

Prerequisites: Post-baccalaureate standing.
Equivalent Quarter Course: ENGL 6350.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

  1. Demonstrate critical thinking and the ability to analyze and interpret various 18th-century literary texts in clear and cogent prose.
  2. Discuss 2-3 theoretical perspectives about literature and apply these to the literature we read.
  3. Prepare a research seminar paper that demonstrates facility with conducting research in traditional and nontraditional ways.
  4. Work collaboratively in class presentations and independently on a seminar research paper of 12-15 pages.
