ENGL 632 - Children’s Literature


Units: 4
Authors, genres, themes or movements in global and multicultural literature for children.

Prerequisites: Post-baccalaureate standing.
Equivalent Quarter Course: ENGL 6740.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

  1. Analyze and interpret recurring themes in global and multicultural children’s literature in clear and cogent prose.
  2. Apply contemporary theoretical and critical approaches to global works of literature for children.
  3. Use stages in the writing process to develop literary criticism for an academic audience.
  4. Work independently with traditional and nontraditional research.
  5. Share and present ideas, insights, and literary interpretations of children’s literature in a collaborative, collegial environment.
