FIN 300 - Financial Management Units: 3 Theory and practices that underlie the financial manager’s decision-making process. Capital investment analysis, cost of capital, risk and return, and market valuation of the financial assets. Formerly BUS 330.
Prerequisites: All of ACCT 210, ECON 200, ECON 205, STAT 110, and either MATH 110 or MATH 130 or MATH 180. Equivalent Quarter Course: FIN 3300. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Entirely Online. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Explain corporate governance and some of the ethical issues financial managers face.
- Explain time value of money and determine the present and future values of cash flows.
- Describe the role of prices and interest rates in financial markets.
- Define the components of risk, determine the level of each type of risk for a given financial asset, and explain the interplay of risk and return.
- Compute the market value of financial assets such as bonds and stocks.
- Calculate net present value (NPV), internal rate of return (IRR), profitability index (PI), and Payback Period (PP) of a single capital project and describe the capital budgeting process of a company.
- Explain and compute the Weighted Average Cost of Capital of a company.
