BIOL 671 - Advanced Topics in Physiology


Units: 3
Advanced study of selected areas of physiology with emphasis on recent research developments and experimental techniques.  Includes in-depth discussions of physiological mechanisms at the molecular, cellular, and systems levels.  

Prerequisites: M.S. Biological Science major.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Apply the basic principles of experimentation and data analysis to address questions in physiology.
  2. Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills when presenting physiological information to different audiences.
  3. Critically evaluate published scientific information within the field of physiology for the strengths and weaknesses of the presented evidence and conclusions.
  4. Explain the role that physiology research plays in addressing problems of broader human societal concern.
