ART 349B - Advanced Portrait Photography


Units: 3
Studio lighting, digital imaging and camera techniques for professional portraiture. Students will learn a variety of advanced portrait technique in order to produce professional quality images.

Prerequisites: ART 349A.
Equivalent Quarter Course: ART 3661. 
Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 6 units.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Variable Intermittently


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Use advanced Portrait techniques with studio strobes;
  2. Demonstrate proficiency in creating an estimate and invoice for an editorial photography assignment;
  3. Use portraiture in a fine art context;
  4. Make professional quality portraits using natural light;
  5. Use specialized Photoshop techniques to enhance portraits;
  6. Identify current trends in portrait photography and use in portrait image production;
  7. Work independently on portrait and editorial style photography from concept to final image;
  8. Produce a professional quality portrait portfolio.
