CRJ 430 - Victimology & Crime Victims

The criminal justice system from the perspective of the victim and the victim’s needs/concerns. Various facets of victimology including: victimization data, victim compensation, psychological impacts of crime on victims, and the victim rights movement are discussed.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Explain the history of victimology;
Describe the impact of public policy and the crime victims’ movement on victim rights;
Analyze the methodology used to determine crime and victimization rates;
Distinguish the differences between specific victim populations and varying victimization rates. Identify current issues in victimology.
